Default Valve guide removal issue...

I am rebuilding the cylinder head on the 1.5 Civic non Vtec engine and have the problem of the valve guide removal. I have read a lot of online and some manuals but no one is specific on the removal. Most of the answers are to heat the head to 300 degress F and that will make the head expand to allow the removal !! Now, i am only replacing the exhaust valves and there is really only less than .002 difference on the old valves for clearance in the existing guides. Does anyone on the board have experience with this procedure, and is this the most popular method to removing the guides??!! thanks!
