Default Valves

So I re did the valve adjustment.. valves were far too tight.. set them right in the middle of the suggested gapping. The tapping seemed to have disappeared except in 2. Now the tapping is much louder. Is there a reason the tapping would increase? Does weather/temp affect the tapping?

One thread per problem please. As I mentioned in your other thread, you are likely to hear some noise even with proper adjustment. Make sure to adjust the valves while the engine is completely cold. They get tighter as it warms up. If you adjust when hot they will be too loose when cold.

I adjusted it after the car had been sitting for.. about an hour so. Guess I underestimated the temp of the engine. New adjustment tomorrow. Thanks!

About 10 minutes worth of adjusting and the ticking is practically gone. I did however have to turn up the idle as it dropped to about 300-600 in idle.
