Default VTEC missing

What a git, i assumed when i bought my car that it was a VTEC! It's a 1.6 ES trim 1998 model totally stock with 123bhp. My engine don't have VTEC SOHC on the bay so i was curiious as to what kinda engine i got in there. I was after an induction kit and need to know exactly what i got under the hood.

Also again, my engine has got 8000rpm and appears to redline at bout 7200, it seems to kick in at bout 5000rpm which made me think it was a vtec SOHC.

they were made without the VTECH disignation on it.
also, can be single cam.
with the plugs toward the front, then it is a VTECH.
not 100 per cent positive - but from what i have read - it is.

Ok looking at your engine from the front. Look to the rear left porion of the valve cover. Noth the actuall valve cover but the area around it.

If that is there it is vtec, it is a selenoid that activates vtec.
