Default vtec and non vtec engines

so i blew up my vtec engine on my car and replaced it with a non vtec engine and the only noticeable difference is something to do with the variable valve timing control the vtec has on and non vtec doesnt and the vtec solenoid valve. so that makes my check engine light be on and i was wondering if there is a way to just turn the check engine light off and everything will still run ok or if i need to replace the computer or if i just have to replace the whole engine again?

You can go one of many routes with this 1) Get the right ECU for the engine you bought 2) Get a VTEC head to put on it, sense you already have a VTEC harness and what not 3) Get you another VTEC engine, just some simple suggestions, if I were you I would go with 1 or 2 they would be the cheaper end of it. What year and model do you have
