i changed a motor for a guy that had a 2001 civic block # d17a1 is it vtec or not the head # is pmr-ha-6 16 valve sohc

any help would be appreciated.

no thats a DX or LX engine code and they are NON-Vtec

D17A2 is VTEC.

hey gunmetal, is a1 or a2 the diff. in engine code for vtec or not?

If I'm not mistaken, yes. The 17 is 1.7 liter. I think the D is SOHC. My 02' is an EX. Is yours a DX or LX? If so, the a1 is non VTEC.

a1 is non v-tech and a2 is v-tech
