You may need a new engine but i could be wrong, i guess it depends on how damaged it is.

I was told that the head was warped by the guy that usually works on my car just trying to get an idea of fair price to ask for selling . It is a 92 civic DX with 165,000 miles on it. kbb says $1750 for fair value but I don't know if it really qualifies for fair since it needs either a new head or to have it resurfaced.

I would ask the guy that works on your car to give you an estimate but unfortunately i dont think you'll be able to sell it for much, engine work is expensive.

if your head is warped depending on how bad it is you might be able to send it to a machine shop.

Driving while overheated can mess up the bottom half of the engine too, the surest fix is to replace the whole engine. Used engines are around, the price should be well under $1000 but then installation is required.

Someone may be interested in buying the car as it is with a bad engine and "swapping" in a more powerful engine from a different Honda. The rest of the car needs to be in good shape for that.

i was told by a mech. that has been working on hondas for about 20 years that if you got your motor hot enough to warp a head then you just officially also fried your piston rings. most of the time if you get it to blow a headgasket and drive for only a very short period of time you'll fry them as well. i blew the head gasket and i fixed it my self figuring he was just padding the estamite.... nope i went through a quart of 20/50 a week with just normal driving. bassically i would get a juckyard motor enless you have another car because you would learn so much byrebuilding it, i know i did.

good luck
