Default RE: weird idle during braking.

well I pumped up the brakes with the car off and the pedal did sink to the floor when I did turn it on. when I pumped the brakes when the car was running it didn't seem to get that much pressure and the pedal did sink a little when I turned it off. Either the check valve is bad or the booster is so I'm going to try to replace the check valeve first with a brand new one and not a used one.

I think you should do all the brake booster tests recommended in the service manual (see my earlier post) because:

1) The outcome of your first test suggested that the brake booster may be fine, although the pedal should not sink to floor, suggesting a possible problem with the master cylinder, brake line, or caliper.

2) The outcome of your second test also suggested a possible problem with the master cylinder, brake line, or caliper and not the booster because the pedal dropped rather than rose or stayed steady.

In summary, none of your test results currently fit with a brake booster problem.
