Whats Causes This....
Syncros are little notched pieces that help the gears slip and mesh together. They live inside the tranny. You need to get the tranny rebuilt before you toast the whole thing. I would advise for you to not try high RPM shifting. You can nurse it along for quite some time if you take it easy.....if you hammer it it will die that much sooner.
By the way have you serviced the tranny lately(changed the oil)?

yes the car had been well maintained it... how long would it be before it would start damage'n my whole tranny if i dont rebuild it and about how much would it cost? could i just get the syncros replaced?
Dream team,
My EF has exactly the same symptom before and I was told by many mechanics that it's the synchros. They claimed that repairs will be expensive. The crunching noise sounds bad and you could not drive the car hard anymore.
However, a Honda specialist recommended me to drain out the Redline high performance gear oil and change it to a normal single-grade engine oil (yes, engine oil) (forgotten the number, but it was a Shell engine oil) and to add in a tube of Bardahl (German) gearbox additive.
It solved my problem 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was shocked!
Now, I can shift at redline at any speed and in any gear, and my gearbox is buttery smooth!!! Absolutely no more crunching sound.
Beautiful. Perhaps you can try this first before jumping into expensive repairs.

The gear box needs a good servicing mate...Get some proper oil and greasing done...Should be lasting for more than you'll ever imagine....But if u can afford it,time to change the gearbox into a sporting one with short shifter cause u mentioned u like shifting at high revs.....
