Where to buy IACV for D16Y7
Hi there. After cleaning my IACV, changing spark plugs and wires, distributor cap and rotor, seafoam cleaning, air filter, and checking timing, I still have a messed up idle *at times*. Sometimes it's just dandy, but other times it sounds like it's going to die and I need to keep my foot gently on the gas to keep it from shuttering like crazy. I am going to try replacing the fuel filter this weekend, as I have no clue when it was done last and the car has 125k miles. However, I'm su****ious that the IACV motor might just be going bad... Does anyone know where to buy an IACV without paying for the whole throttle? I have kept my eye on eBay for the past few months but it doesn't seem like they are easy to find unless you want to be the throttle too...
Any pointers?

The IACV (EACV) is generally sold separately but it is rather expensive. You may be talking about the TPS (throttle position sensor), which is officially considered a permanent part of the throttle body.
Have you tried adjusting the air screw? Warm up the engine and disconnect the IACV wires. The engine should slow down but not stall out. If it stalls, open the air screw on the top of the throttle body to keep it running at about 450 rpm.
Also check that the air passages leading to the IACV are clean.

This is the bugger I'm talking about (attached to the throttle). I see it on eBay periodically but it seems to always be packaged with the throttle body. Per the advice on the forum, I took it off and cleaned it real good with brake cleaner, including the two tubes. I sprayed cleaner in the valve while opening and closing it to possible unstick any carbon nasties that may have been keeping if from opening and closing correctly. A mechanic told me that if that didn't fix it, that the motor in it could be going bad and that I'd need a new one. Anywho, I can certainly try what you mentioned... Only reason I thought it might be the motor on the IACV is cause it's so sporatic... often my idle is perfectly fine...
As far as adjusting to 400rpm, is it ok to use the tachometer as my guide? I was told that these aren't incredibly accurate, but maybe it's good enough...

Yo dude.....There's a place in Florida where I just ordered mines called National.
They don't have a website but you can call. Their number is 305-634-2693. There's a guy named Felix who helped me out. The part was for 181.00 brand new. IMO it would be best probably to get a new one. Used ones....may work but then it's a gamble. Seeing that it's not a part that can be repaired, just get the new one.

nice, this thread is 100% the same problem i am having right now. Cleaned my IACV, still a sporatic up and down idle, and other times its completely PERFECT. Jpnolan, if you got any more y7 IACV's laying around i'd be more than willing to pay for it. Having a ****ty idle is the worst, and good luck with the same problem OP.
