if it's off the track that means the grip that holds on to the window has come lose. when you take the door panel off you will be able to tell fairly easily. i don't know if you can still crank the window with the door panel b/c i have power windows. if you can i would suggest turning the handle a couple of times. if the window is off the track then when you take to an auto parts store just tell them that and they will know what to give you. what they give you is an apoxy (sp?), it acts as like a glue for windows, just put into the little grip that holds window on track. then let it dry, if you are able to roll the window up and down then that should work. if that doesn't then what i would do is call a body shop or a glass shop. they can put some little rubber thingy on there which holds it better and the glass won't crack as easily with just the apoxy on there. I would say your best bet would take it to the glass shop that way you know it won't break. I had the same problem you did over this past summer. i took it to a glass shop and it didn't take to long to fix.
