So the Wife was on her way home the other night and the car died. Go her towed home and started looking at it today. I've been looking around here today and found some good info, Great Site.

So i got the problem down to the coil and went to napa wit the Wife, First problem should of left her home. I tell the guy that I want a Coil and he starts talking about Distributors, I tell him No I want a Coil. Then the Wife jumps in and says get the Distributor. Well after a few Min. were walking out with a distributor and heading home. I check out the old one, still on the car, and make a note were the rotor post is and pull the old distributors off. I then put the new one on and tryed to fire it. It want's to fire but doesn't. I found the DIY post om setting timing but i can find the wire that are in the post. The timing is not off that much but enough it wont start.

Is there anything else I can try before I call a garage to come pick this thing up.

The 2P Service Check Connector is located behind the passenger-side kick panel (picture 1). When you remove the panel, the connector (located just above the ECU) branches from the main ECU wire harness. Use a jumper wire instead of the SCS service connector shown in the picture.

Picture 2 (taken from the service manual) describes how to set the timing.

 

Thanks Ron. I was looking for the wire behinde the panel were the passenger would have the right foot, on the floor.

 

replying to an old post, does this apply to a 97DX MT? the paint has worn off my marks, which one do I use?

 

Yes. It is the middle mark in the cluster of three marks.

 

I checked for the connector but could not locate a 2 wire connector with BRN and BLK wires in it. Possible that Canadian spec civics use different wire codes? My car is a Canadian EX (I believe its equal to a USDM DX)

 

*edit* another possibly silly question, which end of the harness do I stick the jumper into? male (the end with the blades) or female (the end with the spades)? I assume the female end, but wanna be sure!

 

The service connector is not attached to another connector. It is free. The jumper wire inserts into the two female terminals as there is no counterpart male connector.
