FYI - [sm=feedback.gif]I just got a call from my insurance company and they quoted my car at $9919.23. I think that is a bit low because the Private Party Value on Kelly Blue Book (kbb.com) for a 2000 Honda Civic SI with 52,000 miles in good condition is quoted at $11,835. Anyone have any indeas on how to get my insurance company to pay me the correct market value??

my sister ran into the same crap with our insurance company with her integra. you have to be extremely persistent and an a$$hole to them. go onto sites like cars.com or autotrader.com, and get listings from there for '00 civic Si's, print off the KBB value, and show it to them. and, i do believe they have to pay for any modifications you've done to your car to enhance the performance. let's say you put some real good racing tires on there...they aren't required for normal driving, but you put them on to enhance the performance. they have to pay you for that stuff. the next time you talk to your agent, tell him you know your car is worth more than $9900 and that you have proof. also remind him/her that you've been paying them a ton of money to cover your car and that it isn't too hard to switch companies. just be persistent and be a harda$$. it will pay off.

and besides, my boyfriend and i were looking at a 99 Si with 72K for 12,900. i hate insurance companies.

My brother who is a cop says that Lo-Jack only works for the first few hours after the vehicle is stolen. Say if the car was stolen during the night, and you didn't find out until 6 or 7 hours later, the battery on the Lo-Jack would die out and the cops couldn't get a signal.

not to be pessimistic, but he won't.

if it hasn't been stripped already, it will be. so much for having a car with a nice engine in it, eh?
