1993 Civic Idle problem

Hey, I just bought this car, when your start it , it tidles up kind high, near 2000, then start going up and down countinuely.... the check engine light it on any ideas?... It is a 1.6 VTec.

throttle position sensor? o2 sensor? map sensor? have you tried to pull the codes at all?
