Default 97 Civic EX questions

Hey, I am new to the tuner world, but have done a lot of reading into it. i used to drive a 93' accord LX, but recently bought a 97" Civic EX. the engine (as most of you may know) is a D16y8...from what i have read its not exactly the best engine to get a lot of power out of, but thats fine for now sense i am still in college. I am not wanting to put a large amount of money into this car, cause i plan on getting a new one after i am done with college. but i do want to increase performance. I was thinking about adding a DC or greddy 4-2-1 header, and gutting out my cat or buying a high flow cat, and a greddy evo2 cat-back, and a AEM v2 intake . i would like to know what you guys think about that setup and if you have any ideas of some other things i could do without adding a SC or turbo. also how much of a HP gain would i see by doing all of this. also..does a larger throttle body and intake manif help any?

Good plans... From the intake you can expect 5 hp "thats what i got with my v2", around 8-10 with the cat back, and probaly around 10 with the headers.

If i was you id get a o2 simulator for your second o2 sensor (the one after the cat). I heard if you run a gutted cat it will throw a CEL.

2hp at best from a intake and 5hp at best from a exhaust. If you are looking for fast a bolt on sohc honda will not do you any favors.
