Okay I'm pretty new to the whole civic thing and I'm trying to figure out exactly which engine it has. It's a 99 civic lx 4 door with the 5 speed. If anyone knows what engine this is or how to find out what engine it is i'd appreciate it. By the way I don't have the owners manual so no help there. [sm=headbang.gif]

 

Look at the engine to see if it a SOHC or DOHC

 

Look up your car model on the internetl

 

I know it's a single overhead cam and unfortunately its not a VTEC. I tried looking it up on the internet, I did a bunch of searches on yahoo, msn, and google and I can find the engines for every year of civic except 99. Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

check for a couple of numbers and letters stamped into the block. the front of the engine, to the left of the headers should say something like b16a2
dxxbx

Something like that.
