Default Eastern NC Howdy

Howdy folks, I have owned a Honda motorcycle for a few years but until today I've never owned a Honda automobile. I have downsized from my '96 Volvo 960 wagon to a '99 Honda Civic EX. My commute has been a major dent in my wallet...speciifically a 4000+ lb car that has a great motor but sucks the gas and $ right out of my wallet.
I have been told by the previous and original owner that this car with its auto. trans. will get up to 38 miles per gal. I'm a little skeptical but we shall see. my commute to work is 70 miles per day. My gas totals per week to run the Volvo were anywhere between $75- $85...depending the price of gas. To fill the 960 requires 21 gals and the Civic is 11 gals. I expect to save alot and use less fuel as well.
I do have a few issues with the car which i will address in the proper subforums...Lots to learn so I'll sift through and glean what I can before asking any of my dumb questions...I may be a newb here but i have been driving for 44 yrs. back in those days gas was so cheap that you didnt worry about fuel economy. How the world has changed...except for our continuing reliance on big oil to fuel our vehicles.
Looking forward to learning more about my nice little Civvie...Y'all have a nice night now.
Heres a pic...173000+ miles
