Default eBay made me do it

Thursday night I won an eBay auction for a sapphire blue 2007 Honda Civic Coupe with manual transmission that you can see in my album here.

The auction was a hair raiser as my top bid came to within $54.55 of being beat. In the end I prevailed and Saturday I travelled 90 miles up to Eldridge, Iowa to take possession. The car is a rebuild with 34,600 miles but any signs of previous abuse have been erased by an excellent repair job.

My trusty old 1991 Honda Accord is now up for sale and I am looking forward to an equally long relationship with my new Civic.

I expect to keep this ride strictly stock as I am interested in getting very good gas mileage. I will be adding a ScanGauge II to provide instantaneous MPG readings to help me fine tune my shift points. I also expect to invest in 4 new Goodyear Assurance Triple Tread Radials when the current tires need replacement. These intentions are subject to adjustment based on what I hope to learn from reading this site.

Very nice buy And not all mods decrease mpg's, some even improve them

I don't think I'd do anything to that car either lol

Thanks for the comments guys. It seems like a pretty sweet ride so far. Of course there is the 40 year gap since I last drove stick (AH Sprite and 2 VWs) but I'm getting smoother every day.

I've been reading the owners manual. What is all of this nonsense from Honda about only using their fluids? It's as if they didn't OEM them from standard suppliers. Why don't they just provide a list of supplier's products that meet the engineering requirements? I can't believe that they tell people that if they have to add non-Honda supplied brake fluid that they need to get the system flushed and refilled with Honda brand fluid.

well brake fluid you can use any dot3 its fine but i do know that if you dont use the honda power steering fluid it will mess your rack n pinion up, any brand of motor oil is fine, i do recommend honda trans fluid instead of other brands, but dont have to.
o and nice buy

Hcf94CHB,

Thanks for the info. Think I'll have to have a heart to heart with a Honda mech as to why this is the case.
