First time Honda owner
Hi,
I am new to Hondas. I bought a 1999 Honda Civic 4DR a few weeks ago, best car I have ever owned. I have a few questions about this one though. I have researched the model at other various websites. I believe it has a D16 engine, SOHC non-VTEC, not quite sure about the remainder of the engine code.. I am confused about this model, I am thinking the Canadian models are very different from American models. The exhast manifold on mine has the catalytic converter just below the manifold, this is where the questions will start, and the intake manifold is top feed. But I will take that up later when I know more.
This appears to be a great forum and look forward in taking part.

What engine code does Honda call it? I thought either a D16Y7 or D16Y8? Can you put headers on without the cat and move the cat further back or does that not work? What about intake options? It looks like some strut bars won't work because if the top feed intake. I have an AEM intake and looks like it sits high. Do you know the difference between the VTEC and non-VTEC?
