Default general info

I've just sold a nissan micra and am very keen on buying a civic. My micra had some mods - i'm looking to mod the civic big time. I'd like to know what all the model names mean i,e EX, LSi etc... I.ve seen a nice example of a 1993 1.5 LSi, what is this model like? What kind of performance are we looking at (0-60, BHP?) Also, what would you go for? I'd like a very 'modable' engine but not too powerful because of insurance?

Thanks

im in the States, but i think the one to get over there is the VTI. if im not mistaken, its the one with the 1.6 liter dohc vtec engine. thats the one youll want, it is very modable. but im not sure about how insurance works over there. maybe some people on here from your side of the pond can shed some light on that.

England should have the same models as we do in Norway, and we have LSi and VTi's here.. Insurance shouldn't be a problem on a VTi vehicle but ask around and you should get both yes and no from the different companies. I saved 100% on my insurance going from one company to another when buying a 1990 Nissan 300ZX Z32 TwinTurbo.. My regular company wanted 5000$ a year and the company I'm using now only wanted about 2300$.

My Civic Coupe Si(R) is really cheap, only paying about 1500$.

LSi is to my knowledge a SOHC engine with about 115 horsepower, and the VTi is a DOHC with 125 (according to my insurance company atleast).. My Coupe Si have around 160 horsepower though and that is a 1.6 DOHC with V-Tec (99-model). I have driven a couple of LSi's, both 1.4 and 1.5 and they are not slow, but if you are thinking of making some engine mods you probably want a VTi or a Si..

And btw, don't shoot me if I'm wrong with any of the technical details.. There are probably tons of other users in here who can answer your questions better than me.
