Hey I've just registered on the site

My new ride is a Honda Civic VTi Coupe (1997)

What do you guys think of the stock wheels and any suggestions on what wheels would look better ?

Also, I'm no mechanic, but I'd like to learn a little about doing car modifications - What could you recommend me that would be fairly easy ?

if you memorize how you took it apart you can put the new mod on.... write down the steps... wheels gotta go... rims are ur personal preference.. i would suggest 6 or 7 points. white or black

 

Just search around for some Wheels and tires and pick the ones you really like, and simple bolts on mods like Exhaust, intake, header may not give you much, but it's a start, and hey Welcome to HCF.

 

i agree, and youtube can usually give you an idea on to modify things. And in my opinion, chrome rims are not for an import car

 

That looks like a really really clean, stock civic

Check out Rota, Enkei, Konig, or Drag rims for a start. At discount tire's site, you can actually see the wheels on your civic.

Some of the first things I'd do to that Civic are:

1) Lower it on some new suspension. Better handling and makes the car look soooooo much better.
2) Short shifter. It's under $100 and makes shifting 10x more fun

And like said above, an intake, header, exhaust (I/H/E) won't give a ton of power, but it will make your car sound IMO better.

Get a Haynes or Helms manual! Very good investment.

Looks like a great start!

 

Once the bug for modding hits, it will be hard to stop, believe me. I have had mine 3 weeks. I have interior illumination, a bug deflector, and tint. Now I am trying to figure out what to do next, haha.

 

^ A nice set of wheels and tires would be the next step Jayne!
