hi guys
the way i see it, even though it may not be the correct reason, hondas/acuras with their inline 4 can take on a muscle car with its v8 because of the weight differences. and having less weight means less power needed for a quick acceleration....in my opinion. plus they take corners beautifully....again, because there is less weight wanting to go forward instead of turning.
The thing is you can get a blown civic and run 11's and post it up against (and beat) your daddy's car, then take it in the hills and take a couple corners and watch the civic win, then check your gas mileage and civic wins, check your reliability and civic wins, check your resale value... you get where i'm going with this. Muscle cars are good for one thing... and right now i'm having trouble just coming up with one.
like i said, he built the car for one thing, to drag race. if he wanted something for the street that can out handle a ferrari, he could have, but he's into drag racing. so trying to compare a drag car to a civic that is built to handle good is stupid.
350s are one of the most reliable engines out there.

that still does not give any proof to back up that a stock integra that runs 15s can beat a stock camaro that runs 13s in a drag race..... i may be a girl, but i'm not that stupid.
not bashing you, but you also have to realize that its pretty important in that LT powered Camero to have a decent driver. Ive seen quite a few of them at the drag strip running high 15s. a lot of drivers of cameros and mustangs are just in it for some kind of image boost, and really are horrible drivers. so all im really saying is that its not fair for you to call out XE on that because for all any of us know, it could have been the first time the guy in the Camero had ever driven. and if he doesnt want it to count as a loss against an integra, He shouldnt have raced.
he shouldn't base his opinion on camaros because of some idiot driver then... if thats even the case here. how do we know that it wasnt a v6 camaro his "sister" raced? hell, most of these ricers out here go around bragging they beat such and such car when the other guy wasn't even racing them. i see that all the time around here. like my ex boyfriend for example, some kid pulls up beside himand starts revving his honda, we dont pay attention to him and the light turns green and there he goes flooring it, we get up to the next light and he yells out "oh i beat you bad" and me and my boyfriend just laughed at him.
every ls1 camaro ive seen all has ran low 13s stock. granted there are bad drivers out there, but that goes for all makes and models. i doubt they buy mustang and camaros for an "image boost", more than likely they just want a fast car, nothing wrong with that.

C'mon guys, I think we're kinda bashing this girl too hard. She obviously does not want a fast car, but instead, a reliable, fuel efficient car. Let's face it, Civics aren't very fast stock compared to most cars out there. Sure, they can be MADE fast, but that costs lots of extra money that she does not want to spend. It's also unfair to compare a car that is built 100% for drag racing to a car built for road racing. That's like saying Formula 1 race cars are better than top fuel drag cars because they can go around corners faster.

you're from virginia, right? a relatively humid place, and the highest altitude is between 5000 and 7500 feet. here in colorado, the elevation begins 5000 feet. where i live, it's closer to 6000. and colorado is a DESERT (read: low humidity). cars run a lot better in more humid climates at a lower elevation....thicker air is more condensed and expands more rapidly during combustion. i have a hard time believing a stock camaro can run 13s in this area. also, where is your proof? if your daddy goes to the track every weekend, scan a time slip and show us your proof. a stock corvette with its lightweight fiberglass body and relatively same engine as your camaro barely runs 13's out here. a camaro is loaded up with heavy accessories, such as bigger wheels. sure, bigger wheels will help you corner better, but when it comes to drag times they really hurt your performance. metal is more dense than air, therefore, it takes a lot more power to get them in motion. i know you already want to call BS on that one. want to have a fun project? take smaller wheels and get a dyno test. then drop on the bigger wheels. you will lose anywhere from 2-3 WHP (Wheel Horse Power: HP ratings at the wheels) just from the different sizes of wheels. that's just the wheels!
now take a honda hood and weigh it. i can carry a honda hood all around my garage. a ford or cheverolet hood weighs a whole lot more, and i'd have to ask my b/f to help me get that out of the garage and to the curb for monday's trash. i guess what i'm getting at is that i'm having a really hard time believing it, especially when a fully fiberglassed body weighing next to nothing barely make 13's and you're telling me about a weighed down camaro being able to run that.

As for when I race, I'm the one getting challenged. I don't assume I am racing someone just because they pull up next to me at a light. When they come up to the light and rev their engines and look directly at me, i think they want to race. just because i beat them in the stock integra means they weren't trying?? Ex: my b/f raced me with his 1994 BMW 325i, and he did lose. The BMW has 189 HP stock (at the flywheel). The GSR has 170 HP at 7,600 rpms (at the flywheel). but the integra is much lighter than the BMW. and of course the BMW is much lighter then the average mustang or camaro running around out here. If the BMW 325i could keep fairly close to a mustang or camaro (I am sure some of you may have witnessed a BMW doing this before) then it shouldn't be too hard to believe that i have legitimatly raced and beat a few different camaros and mustangs. now of course these are stock, i wouldn't have attempted a race with a modified muscletang (mustang) or camaro.
i'm not trying to start a fight. yes, you pissed me off real good with your first remark about hondas. so this is me being defensive, because i have seen with my own eyes an stock gsr integra take on camaros and winning. sure, the drivers of the camaros/mustangs could suck, but i'm definitely no mario andretti. whew....i'm going to go drink a beer.
come over to virginia and i'll be more than happy take you to the local track where there's always f-bodys out there both stock and modded. if i knew that he still had time slips from when the car was stock(about 5 years ago)then i'd scan them. when he gets back from his shop tonight i will ask him for you. but until then head over to www.ls1tech.com and search for posts for time slips for stock 1/4 times. theres quite a few members there from virginia aswell. if you dont believe me, maybe you will believe thousand of other people... also, where is YOUR proof?
