Default high-end upgrades for low-buck builders...

this was a topic in the magazine Project Car and I wasn't fortunate enough to pick it up. anyways, I'm a newbie at tuning cars but have always been interested in doing it and absolutely love customizing. basically what i'd like to know is what solid upgrades should I get for my 1997 Civic EX for a good price. What are the "basics" so to speak that I should start out with? Thanks everybody!

fastest bang for the buck would be nitrous. you could piece together a used turbokit for abotu 1200 bucks with turbo if you look hard enough for the right deals.

I dont think you can do an intercooler without the turbo buddy...lol. Plus for your car it would be pretty pointless to get the intercooler before the turbo even if it was possible. Depending what header you get your looking $100-600. So I agree with the nitrous setup. Should be less than $600 to get everything situated..atleast for my car it is.

Yeah I dont think anyone is necessarily recommending you do nitrous first...but stating the fact that the best $$/hp gain is nitrous.

I dont have one, I dont know if ricey has one either. But Venom, NOS, and Nitrous Express are good companys that do nitrous boddles and setups. I recommend Venom out of the three. NOS has been around awhile though.

Why does everyone always forget ZEX? lol, they are great for beginners because there is less to wire up and the wet and dry kits come with theTPS safety switch already installed in the purple box. I would suggest doing research before buying anything. Newbies that were educated buy the fast furious movies putting nitrous on their stock engines is the reason why nitrous gets a bad rap for blowing engines.

Yeah I don't have it and wouldnt on this motor. And wouldnt recommend it on yours for a first upgrade either. Was just agreeing with the fact that its the most hp for the $$.
