I have a 00 SI completely stock at right around 100k miles. Is the HP gains worth intake, headers, and exhaust? Or should I just wait and get a turbo/supercharger? Im in school and broke as a joke...I could get maybe intake and exhaust...but a turbo/supercharger is out of the question financialy. I've read about the gains from intake/headers/exhaust and realisticly it seems that I might get 20-30 hp at best if I got all three upgrades. If nothing else does anybody have any advice on how to get noicable HP gains for undera $1000. Appreciate any feed back.

 

noway will you get 20-30hp out of that, more like about 10 to 14hp and IMO no bolt ons are not worth the money on your car

 

eh? if your gonna fart around and just drive like a normal person i would go for the I/H/E but if you wanna turbo then its a diffrent story and thred lol

 

A B16 is decent to bolt ons, i'd do i/h/e to help the motor breathe better, and you'll notice a difference regardless. It may not push you against the seat, but it will deffinetly be better than stock.

 

IMO, wait and turbocharge it.

Intake is replaced by charge piping, so spend your $ on the piping instead of the intake

Header will replace with a turbo mani, which if you get an HF manifold you'll save about $100 over a DECENT header, you'll save even more if you were gonna go like DC or GReddy

and Exhaust will have to be atlteast 2.5", so i'd say save your money and get custom exhasut that will fit your turbo setup

so if yu're going F/I in the future, save your money for that project, but if oyu just want a fun daily drive to zip around in, i guess its worth it, get decent I/H/E and then some springs/shocks and some nice wheels and it'll for sure be fun

EDIT: HF manifold won't fit on your '00 SI's B16a2, but i'd still buy a nice turbo mani instead of buying the header

 

hey man i have a 00 si...if i were u id get a b18....just throw it in there(they have good hp number alreasdy) an just sport that into u can boost it....id want to do the exhaust last..cause when u boost it will have to do it all over again, but if udo go with exhaust 2.5 inch or 3inch would get u ready for the turbo

 

Thanks a lot fellows for the info...before my SI I had a 94' Camaro Z28 with the LT1 Corvette engine...I guess if I'm going to be able to touch that kind of power again i/h/e is not going to do it. Thanks for saving me from a lot of wasted money!
