hi i just bought a 95 civic ex 5speed coupe.. i know that it has a d16z6 a sohc 1.6 vtec.. this is my second honda (90 prelude s 5speed) and im familiar with modding cars..
my question is what are the basic mods that will net good gains besides intake and exaust?

well...theres not much available after yer classic IHE...aside from a turbo. if ur gunna go much further than that might i recommend an engine swap? the B series is what u want, a B16A1 or 2 or a B18C1 or 5. they all have a virtually endless aftermarket and (if tuned right) can take almost anything out there (aside from the exotics of course )
