hey just bought a 04 civic ex with a d17. im gonna try to make it fast but i think im going to have to do a swap to be satisfied..

welcome man, and i as well as a few others on here represent a fellow d17er who is trying to prove that d17's can also be fast, be proud of your d17

 

Yeah, the d17 has gotten a bad rap.. It depends on what you consider "fast".. what's your goals is a question most of the other guys are going to ask. And most people will say to do a k20 or a h22 swap.. which if you have $5k to throw around wouldn't be a half bad idea - bumps you up to 200hp stock.. however, you can get a little more power out of the d17 going with a turbo and a nice tune.. all the above are too expensive for me, so I am sticking with my i/h/e (and whatever anyone else can suggest)...

Hey khanselman it is hard for a lot of people to put so much into a car but if you really want it, you have to save up and in the end it is always worth it. I am going to start saving up for a turbo, so i will hopefully have one by next summer.
