Default new member--question about rims

Hello All... I am a new member to HCF and I have a few questions.
I have a 2004 Civic DX Coupe. I'm about to buy some 17 in rims from my cousin, but I'm not sure if there is enough finder space for them. Does anyone have any suggestions if 17's or 18's are too big or will they fit perfect?

Thnx

Welcome to HCF! Yes, there is enough fender room for 17 and 18 inch wheels. As long as the bolt pattern is 4X100 you should be straight.

Do you think it would be neccessary to lower the car or will the wheels take up most of the space?

Yes, the car will need to be lowered. A bigger rim requires a smaller sidewall to try and stay somewhat close to the original, overall circumference. You will still have a big gap if you do not lower it.

Do you think the bigger wheels or not lowering the car will take make for a rough ride?

My buddy has your model with 18s... he lowered his just 1 inch and they look sweet... driving is amazing... people say it is rougher but I really cant tell (plus I have never expected a luxury ride in a sub $20k car) Looks hot, rides nice... If i could afford 18s and a small drop I would do it to my 04 sedan

Does anyone have any suggestions of a brand of lowering springs or coil overs? Which is better the springs or coil overs? I live in Northern VA--sort of new the area--does anyone live up here and know where I can take my car to get the work done on the springs?
