Default New STD in Kansas City, MO

Hello everyone! My name is Kelly. I'm 17, and I live in Kansas City, Missouri. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

I'm looking to pick up this car next weekend. It's a 1991 STD, 4 speed. 64,xxx miles.

It's all stock. If I'm not mistaken, it has a D15b motor? I'll have some extra money to dump into it. Not looking to do a motor swap right now. Just finished one on my last car, and I would like to have a nice DD for awhile, and I need to break before I take on another big project. I was thinking about doing non engine specific mods. Maybe shocks/springs all around. Window tint. Any suggestions for brands or suspension setups? Any other mod ideas?

Now to the next question. My previous car was a 1995 Pontiac Firebird, that I swapped an 5.7L LT1 into. Don't know a whole lot about Honda motors specifically. How well can the D15b be built? I've read a little bit about B16/B18 swaps, but I certainly wouldn't be doing another swap until next Summer. If possible, I'd like to build the stock motor, not a fan of the bottle, but I'm fond of the idea of getting blown. Whatever works. Any input or advice is welcome.

Sorry. Should've clarified. I believe it's a D15B1, which is a non vtec motor if I'm not mistaken? Are the D series blocks different? Or is it just the top end?

D series blocks are almost all identical, at least D15 and D16 blocks. D17 blocks are different though. The part after the D16 or D15 gives an indication of the type of head, ie d15b1, d15b7. Same block, different head.

So someone looking to build the D series motor would want a D15B Vtec head? Still not sure if that's what I'd like to do, but just trying to figure things out right now.

You can swap a D16 vtec head onto that block to give it vtec. It's a very common swap, called a "mini-me." Do a search for that and you'll find tons of threads.

Cool deal! I'll have to look into that.

Got some basic info. Wasn't too impressed really.

A B18 swap would be a lot quicker wouldn't it?

^ Yes the B18 or GSR gives you around 180WHP and 126 lbs. or torque, and if you buy the tranny will have an lsd.

Nice car, diggin the slipstreams. The shifter is definitely unique too; I, like everyone else, put a short shifter in mine. You seem to have the opposite. Very clean, and only 64k miles??? Great find! Welcome to the site!
