The newestest member!! Where do I post tech. questions?
I hear a sound from the timing belt area when idling down. At Honda place they chqrged me 95 bucks and said the timing belt is after market causing this noise. But I kinda think the noise is because the belt is too tight. I tried to open the housing around it but I need to open the top part of the motor first. Would I mess with the seal if I open the top part of the engine? I think unlike other cars it has no gaskets and just a rubber washer. Is there a third wheel to adjsut the belt in there? Can I adjsut it easily?
yes its rubber, and if you put it back on right it wont leak. but ive seen cheap belts rub on the timing belt covers and make a strange sound. they could be right. and you dont want to just loosen the belt. if its even a little too loose, it can slip, and ruin your engine.
Welcome to the forum! Be careful, screwin around with the timing belt is playing with fire. You will get burned if you dont know what your doing.

Welcome to HCF!! If you are familiar with the process of the timing belt and have experience, I don't see why you can't do it. However, if you have never worked with the timing belt before, let a professional do it. Good Luck.
