hi i have a D16Y8 V-Tech with a manual transmission and i found a transmission to swap it with for cheap because my 3rd gear sync row is bad and it grinds at any RPM but 2500 and even then its iffy. i was wondering if it would make a difference to swap my transmission with one out of an older D16Y8 civic without V-Tech. so i guess my main question is does V-Tech effect the type of transmission in a car or no?

 

First off, it's vtec. Just to get all the flame out of the way...

There are differences in gear ratios between DX/LX (non-vtec) and EX (vtec) transmissions, but it would bolt on and would work as far as I know. (As long as it's not one of the CVT transmissions, you're fine.)
