Thinking about going turbo need second opinion
So I've got parts gallor and not enough knowhow on what I'm missing or whats my best option.
Car is a 1990 Civic SI hatch.
Current motor:
1990 Stock SI top end (OBD0 ecm and top end) with over 370,000kms
1996 Y7 stock bottom end with about 120,000kms
Parts i have laying around:
-Complete 1999 D16Y8 with 288,000kms (Pulled from car)
-Z6 head (possible warped still needs to be sent in and checked) 75% complete backyard port and polish. Decided because the motor had overheated 3 or 4 times that it be a good candidate to try and learn on, if i **** it up who cares its more then likely ****ed to begin with.
-New Brian Crows valves and racing springs and retainers
-Street tune cam (allegedly) for Z6
-OBD0-OBD1 jump harness
-Apexi Air fuel and vtec controller
-stock Z6 and Y8 ecm's
-Skunk2 Pro series intake
-Skunk2 Alpha series 70mm Throttle body
-Skunk2 3bar map sensor (Overkill but was plug and play, also price was right)
-3 inch Turbo short ram pipe and cone
-Beat up old inner cooler (Replacing)
-Old turbo that i believe is the oil burning culprit in old car and will be replacing.
-new Throttle Position sensor
-Fuel rail and fuel regulator for D-series intake,
-Ram horn turbo header with External BOV port
-Oil catch can
-Intake, header, turbo, and 5 bolt (turbo exhaust) Gasgets
What i have plans to buy:
-AEM T3 BOV
-AEM Fuel rail and Fuel regulator (One i bought is a temp filler until the other parts becomes available... the AEMs are temp out of stock)
-
What i need advice on:
-Which injectors should i buy,
-Which Boost controller should i buy,
-What is the best 70mm piping option for this ancient beast,
-ECM Options for 2021 for i guess OBD1?
-Recommended new 3 inch inner cooler
-Recommended new turbo
Ok, so Original plan was to put the z6 head on the Y7 block. well I'm not confident that the head was flat nor am i particularly confident in my port and polish job thats still needs 2 intake ports finished. Ran out of bits for my dremal and I haven't got more since i ran out. I later that year purchased a 99 SI coupe with a Y8 in it. car died on me one day so i parked it it sat for 2 years and i pulled motor and scrapped the car. after 2 years of hmming and hawing and collecting parts... I'm kinda stuck with a dilemma. I bought all these parts but the car is starting to have major things break and finding replacement parts is well Really hard in my area at this time. Do i find a new rolling chassis or mickey mouse fix this one? One of the parts being 1 of the 2 hinges on my rear hatch had seized and then after opening the hatch 3 times snapped. It now flops around on the highway. Cancer is forming where i already fixed it 4 years ago, door handles springs have rusted away and handles get stuck up when pulled. drivers side headlight is an 89 and the marker light mounts diff so new replacements i bought cannot be installed. Pass door speaker wiring broken between door and stereo cannot seem to find the fault, Sunroof leaks when it rains, And the Heater core is shot. But Ive replaced wheels bearings both sides, brakes all around, new tires, new plug wires and plugs, new cold air intake cone, new battery, new tie rods, new ball joints, new stainless steel exhaust (with header), and a new alternator. Car doesn't have AC or Power steering and never did. its like half goof parts half broken down tired parts. is it worth turboing at this point? anyway would love to hear from you guys on your thoughts.
