Tint
Hi everyone. I just bought a new 2005 Civic and I was wondering if you guys can help me with a question. I wanted to tint my windows but I don't know where to get them done and how much is a reasonable price. Any suggestions?

RE: Tint
welcome to the forum! my bf used to tint windows professionally, so this is about the only topic i feel comfortable giving advice on.
it kind of depends if your car is a sedan or coupe. but, i wouldn't expect to pay more than $250 for the car, but it depends on the shop and the brand of tint they use. i'd call around to local tint shops, just look in the yellow pages. you want to find out what brand of tint they use. my bf swears by 3m, which is what i have on my car, and it's guaranteed not to fade or turn purple. whatever you do, i wouldn't go through the dealership to have them tinted. they will charge you out the wazoo for a half-a$$ed job.
the next step is deciding what % you want to go with. 50% is the lightest, and most worthless in my opinion. 35% is darker, but still lets a lot of light in. most dealerships put 35 on their new cars, just to give you an idea of what it's like. 20% is next and is reasonable at blocking light out. then my favorite, 5% lets very little light in, and people get curious about who's in the car.
i hope my long-winded reply helps you out. congrats on your new civic!
