Default Where does the civic stand in the racing world????

Heres the deal...ive always loved cars and racing but im new to the actual car world and am in need of a new car.... i cant spend more than like 4000 at first. I want something reliable, fast, cheap, and good looking in that order....alot of ppl street race around where i live and i dont wanna get deep into it...just little splurges when the light turns green lol but almost everybody around here drives camaros and mustangs....so heres my question...where does say a 6th gen civic stand in the racing world? could the 1.6 liter engine with 1000 dollars of mods keep up with the usual 5.0 liter 305 camaros?

no. Definatley not. 1k is not a lot of money with a civic thats pretty much I/H/E which will get you about 12hp. But on Craigslist.com you might be able to find an already turboed civic for around 4k. go hunt.
