I wouldnt be worried about a warranty on a VW. They are like Hondas they run forever plus if you are going to mod the car for more power you say bye to warranties. And yes if you have a boosted VW like a GTI and lightly mod it it should run circles around a NA 350Z. As would a boosted D16, power to weight ratio.

If i were you I would seel your civic and forget the VW cause they are wacko and weird euro. Buy a civic with a swap if not find one that is already turboed or keep your car then save your money then sell it when you have more money to buy a already turbo civic or intergra if you dont want to do the work. Dont waste money on a sohc d series motor. you'll spend all that money on a nice turbo kit to only be bushing like 200 to the wheels and you can get that out of a n/a b series with some upgrades.

Again power to weight.
As for getting 200WHP on a B series you will need to do more than just simple upgrades unless you start with a B18c5 type R motor. 200WHP on a B16a or B18c you will need to up comression (new pistions), some good head work and a set of good cams. All this said and done will be over $2000 plus the cost of the motor and swap, around $3000-5000. You can turbo a D16y8 with a budget of around $2500.

Consumer Reports says VW reliability is still below average. They're fun cars; alot of my friends have them, but parts are mad expensive. I would boost your car. There's a novelty of having a N/A car boosted. Especially with the poor stereotypical view of the civic.

I beg the differ on the B series hitting 200 HP. I know it doesnt take $2000 to get there, especially if you do the work yourself.

D series + boost = win. The only NA b series youll get to 200 with for fairly cheap is a c1. the b16 and b18b arent power friendly. In fact, for a b16 to make 200whp, they made a dvd because it is so difficult to get done. The other problem with an NA car is no tq. The guys shop i frequently visit has a k20 that made 214whp and like 147wtq.....I made 204 whp and 186wtq on 10psi with a fairly small turbo. Ill take a d and boost anyday
