Default 95 civic ex turbo helpp

Hey im new to this and i just picked up a 95 civic ex running a d16z6 voch vtec engine with only 114xxx miles. I recently put in hids and a 3" inch magna flow exausht. I dont know wiether i should turbo the engine i have now or swap for a b18. Im lookin to get serious power without breaking the bank to much. If anyone could point me in the right direction i would appriciate it. Thnks

Define "serious power" and your budget. Nothing we can suggest without knowing that info.

Assuming that your motor is healthy (good compression etc), with $3k, I would look to turbocharge the current motor for the best bang for your buck. B18's can take boost, and is a bigger motor than the D16, but after the swap, you probably will not be left with enough to boost the motor. You can get MUCH more power out of a turbo'd D16 compared to a B18 with bolt ons.

Piece together a kit using name brand parts would be my suggestion.

Do you plan on doing everything yourself as far as installation? How about tuning the vehicle? Do you plan on having someone do the tuning for you?

Or if you dont want to go with a boosted set-up, you can look at going to an H22 motor. Mine makes 195whp/165wtq. Not too bad, but I bet other people would be left with wanting a little more.

I was thinking of buyng a ebay turbo kit and and just using all the piping and intercooler from it then just buying a greddy turbo and just swapping it for the ebay turbo. But yes i will have a shop tune and install everything.

I woudn't even bother with the eBay kit unless you want to throw money away. Just buy the ebay intercooler/piping separately, then buy everything else needed. The oil lines that come with the eBay kits are junk along with everything else. If you do not want to make your own feed and return lines, there are numerous companies who will make you whatever you would like.

Find a power goal first. If you want 250 whp, find a turbo rated for that (or a little more) and find some 440-600cc injectors.

Moving this to the correct section, too.

EDIT - Be sure to start researching your *** off to start being able to understand all of this. Reading through threads on all forums and seeing what other used for builds as well as seeing how much power they made will help.
