is there any way i could tune it myself without a dyno and a tune shop, cuz there are no shops that specialize in anything like that here in labrador. what would i be looking into if i decided to do this myself? Also, what setup should i get to reduce lag? i don't intend on building over 200HP so i don't need a big turbo or a lot of boost.

Also, you need a Wideband and everything needed to Datalog
I attended a course on auto service tech (2 year:completed 1-1/2 due to personal reasons) which covered more on the computer tech involved in new cars. so the principles and mechanics should be less of a task mentally. But what kind of equipment and money am i looking into with datalogging. i know air/fuel and spark but am i getting in over my head with just a 2 year mechanics course and a love of car knowledge? or is this a viable option for an enthusiast? cuz i could start using this to my advantagfe in the future(tuning other peepes rides) any help would make me smile.
I'm really not trying to talk you out of it, and I don't doubt your knowledge of autos... I would just read into it as much as you can before starting to mess with your motor. One hard pull on a not so good tune and you'll be cleaning piston pieces out of your oil pan

that seriously gives me the confidence to do it. now all i need is a bank loan and an ebay account. (the first i am actually working on)
when i first made plans for my car i wanted to stay N/A but the HP-ceiling you reach before serious money is needed deterred me from it. whether this is a smart decision is yet too show itself. but one quick question. should i rebuild my engine in preperations for boost even though i am only planning on running low pressures?

Also, in no way am I telling everyone on this forum that they should be tuning their own car. Research is crucial, as much of it as you can possibly get. You shouldnt even start the trial and error stage until you are completely comfortable doing so. A bad tune with a hard pull will eat your motor alive.
i always drive my truck like a sissie when i do a repair until i am confident that it will blow from the seams. i had to change my intake manifold gasket (88-98 gm trucks are a b***h). for that day i checked the mani for vacuum leaks coolant leaks.but i do take your consideration seriously because i always wanted a car for the last few years (driving to many trucks) but the fact that i got a civic made it 10 times better. the last thing i would want to do is blow it up.
What degree of rebiuld should i go with on my Y8?

anything can be done its just its hard to do performance upgrades and know whats good and whats bad and what works and what doesnt, if you have rebuilt any engines before you shouldnt really have a problem with these little 4 bangers, they are pretty simple to work on
