Anyone here using the ZEX dry kit on a y8?
Im going to be ordering a ZEX dry kit here soon and I need a few things confirmed before I do it. Ok, Im running a d16y8 and I have a CAI, 4-2-1 header, full catless 2.25" exhaust, and a ZEX 105300 (stage 2) cam with valve springs. My tuner is afraid that when he tunes me for the i/h/e and cam that Im going to end up running lean when I spray. I know the ZEX kit comes with the "brain" and that it monitors fuel/N20 ratio as well as bottle pressure and increases fuel pressure by tapping into the TPS sensor. It's supposed to stop you from running lean. How well does that work and would if be a concern for me if I have it tuned for the cam? I don't want to have to spend the money on a FPR for just a 55 shot if I don't need it. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

its hard to say that you won't run lean, i would keep an eye out on the a/f ratio with a guage or something. make sure the fuel pump is up to the task of providing more fuel also, and a fuel pressure reulator is not a bad upgrade with even a stock motor, because some power can be made with that alone and some good fuel tuning (not a lot, but every little bit helps)

Well I've lots of people run 55 shots on completely stock motors with just some colder plugs. The only thing Im worried about is that cam...Im scared Im gonna run lean up top. But I thought the brain was supposed to stop you from running to lean or rich. That what it says it's supposed to do anyway. What's the best way to retard the timing? Just push the dizzy a little farther back towards the cab or the car more?

Yea I ordered a FPR and gauge and Im gonna be tuning with Crome Pro. So I think Im set for that. I got the kit in today along with my new OE headgasket and valve seals. Just waiting on a couple of valves so I replace my burned one this weekend. Then Im installing the kit and going to have it professionally tuned on the dyno, see what kind of numbers she puts down, and then hit then head up to the track. Should be lots of fun. I can't wait!

That's EXACTLY what I was hoping for. I don't care if I get a high, mid, or low 14 lol. I just want to be in the 14's. And I was hoping to get anywhere from 165-170whp. I think it's awesome that a little civic with only 165whp can run a 14 and the new Vettes have like 350-400hp and run 14's stock.
