Expensive meaning...?

Sorry to sound ignorant, but I've never actually bought a turbo before.

 

probably over 3000 for a kit...when you could peice the same 'kit' together for 1000 dollars. the pre organized kits are way overpriced.

 

Is there a DIY on piecing a turbo? I thought I saw one awhile ago...but can't remember...

How difficult would it be to find all the parts I would need??

 

it's not difficult to find all the parts you need, it is finding them for a good price, and then making them work together. a bolt on kit takes all the guesswork out, and the greddy one with be carb certified when it's for sale

no way i would piece together a kit on a brand new SI. they are still figuring out those motors, they have really high compression, and they are backwards, so most of the pieces will be hard to find and place.

 

Backwards? Like... literally? So the exhuast header is behind the engine right?

 

exactly. the IM is on the front, and the header comes out the back.

finally an engine that makes sense to me:-D LOL...placing intake before exhaust is logical to me...
