arrghh
[sm=groupwave.gif][sm=massbounce.gif][sm=bounceybounce.gif]yaaay I'm boosted!!!!!!!
Finally, after almost a week, i'm finish . At first my car would not start and I was getting no spark but plenty of gas.....I then realized that I had my kill switch on (I always thought i had it connected to fuel pump, turns out I had connected to the ignition control....eehh at least it works[&:])
When i took my car for a test drive, my tial bov scared the **** out me, i was expecting a different kind of whooosh and for a minute thought i threw a rood lol.
One question though guys, is it normal for the engine bay to get really hot (like when you come from really long road trips) in just a few minutes??

^^^thanks man.
more questions guys[&:]
What should my oil pressure gauge be reading?? (It's an electrical autometer gauge, my sensor is tapped into my oil sandwich plate)
At neutral it reads 20-25psi
when cruising below 3k rpm it reads around 50 psi
Above 3k rpm it reads near 75psi
Also, when I release my clutch in first gear and sometimes in second I hear like a grinding/rattling noice... could this mean that my clutch is worn out??? (Car has 71k miles and clutch has never been replaced) Oh, my car didn't make that sound yesterday when i test drove it, it started making it today. Also, lately my clutch squeaks when i press it.
hanks guys

Oil pump is spun by the engine, that's actually pretty much perfect if not actually a bit higher than normal. I have ~15psi or so at idle.
Turbo is a heat sink, don't be surprised if it glows red.
The rattling could be anything really, possibly a clutch or might just be something from the turbo kit rattling on something else. You'll need to find that one out yourself.

how long did the actual install time take? ill be getting all my parts within 3 weeks here and im getting pretty worried about the time on it
and are you running a stock clutch? i know that a lot of stage 2+ clutches have chatter issues
and are you running a stock clutch? i know that a lot of stage 2+ clutches have chatter issues
it took me about about a week, ( about 2 full days and a couple of hours when i got off work). The main reason it took me so long was that i was constantly going to the store to get little stuff like bolts, etc that i needed and I had to wait 3 days for my steel oil pan to arrived.
If you order all your parts didder, I"m sure it won't take you more than 3 days. Your not swapping the air intake right? If not, that should cut some time off the installation.
yeah, right now i'm running a stock clutch.
Hey SovXietday or anyone else that has d16y8 with d16y7 oil pan,
since the d16y7 doesn't have the holes to attach those two metal supporters ( edelbrock instructions refers them as the transaxle oil pan braces) did you guys just left them out or made some custom ones? I'm just asking since this is what the edelbrock instructions says about them
Reinstall the transaxle to the oil pan braces. Make sure the braces line up flush
with both the oil pan and the transaxle before tightening the bolts. These braces
are an integral part of the engine / transaxle structure and if they are not aligned
properly before the bolts are tightened, this will put undue structural stress on
the engine / transaxle.
Or is that a bunch of bogus info??

my bro took the car for a test drive to find out if the grinding noise was from the clutch but it's not since the clutch still grabs fine. From inside the car, it sounds like if the noise is coming from the turbo
You can only hear the noise when going at low rpm's ( like below 2,500) and only when you release off the gas pedal, like when switching gears. Noise starts to fade a little once you been driving for a while. Also, probably the reason we didn't notice the noise yesterday was because of my throttle body was more open than usual, that car was revving around 3k in neutral when we took it for a test drive. Although, I didn't hear it, my brother says he could hear the noise when switching gear during boost today.
any ideas of what might be the problem guys????? Could it be my turbo???? I'm pretty sure the turbo has no shaft play since it didn't wiggle at all when i was testing for it. Car didn't make any grinding noise before, it just started when the turbo was installed.
Also, it doesn't make the noise in neutral.
I'll try to see if my friend lets me borrow his digital camera.
