Default Big plans ahead

And I mean BIG. Pretty soon I'm gona start ordering all the supplies I need to beef up my engine. First, ARP studs to go in before I install the turbo. Then I'm installing the turbo, and I'm gona run the fuel management that came with it. Then I start ordering tons of stuff over the long period between now and the summer, when I'm gona install it all. The list includes Eagle H-Beams, SRP Pistons (low compression), Crower St. 2 cam, AEM EMS, Fluidyne radiator, Fuel Injectors (still haven't decided size yet), Wideband A/F, Exhaust system (still haven't decided yet, might get for Christmas), higher flowing fuel pump, *maybe* get the block sleeved, and various other small gadgets and gizmos. I'm going to install everything this summer (except exhaust which is hopefully sooner), and my final goal is in the 300hp range. Just thought I'd give you guys an update. 2 more weeks until turbo goes in!!

I know. It's been absolute hell. It starts going in on the 17th. Then hopefully I'll get the exhaust soon after, and then I start ordering everything else.

*maybe* get the block sleeved
I was gonna suggest if you're gonna spend all that cash, you should spend a bit more and do it up right. That way, you can easily crank that boost past 6PSI.........oooooooooohhhhhh yeeeeeeeaaaaaahhhhhh!

The block will need to be sleeved if you plan on anything over 325 to 350whp, dont matter the amount of boost it takes to get there.

nix the Stage 2 cam and get a turbo one instead. an NA cam will hurt the power on a boosted motor.

I agree, the lift is all off. You want your valves to come as close as they can to not being open at all at the same time because it will waste your boost.

I believe the turbo cams have higher lift, but shorter duration. This is done to create as much of a vacuum as possible on the downward stroke and opening the valve as much as possible right before the piston hits the bottom. This way the vacuum created sucks in as much of the boosted air as fast as possible. I guess in a way it saves the boost like you mentioned by opening the valve as little(in duration) as possible, but not necessarily as little of an opening as possible.

edit:

I forgot to add that with the higher lift and shorter duration you will get less overlap, so in that sense you also don't waste the boost.
