Default boost gauge install

so i was looking at how to install my boost gauge this weekend and i was wondering how does ur gauge measure boost cause the only thing i saw was that it was connected to a vaccum line so how would that allow it to measure boost shouldnt it have to tap into the charge pipes or the wastegate somehow?

Whereever there is air flowing (vac lines, etc) boost will build

My understanding of it is that once the turbo spools up then the vac lines turn into boost lines.

you can tie into any vacuum line. they will see boost and will show as positive pressure on the gauge, (unless you have a strictly vacuum gauge)
