ok, sometime here in the future, about within a yr or so i plan on turboing my d16y7 but i wanna do the y8 head swap, intake mani, all that stuff, but i was wondering what the most psi i can run safely not tuned, so pretty much a totally stock d16y8, about 5 ish psi?

you cannot run any setup non tuned. it will fail on you not matter how much boost you are running. if you can't afford a tune, then dont do the project.

If you got the money, you can buy the edelbrock kit. It is probably the best kit out there for your money. The piggy, alreay comes tuned for 11psi, getting you safely around 200whp.

Haha, I drove my car around with a stock ECU. My turbo is big enough to not boost it.

One day I accidentily hit 1psi of boost, the car shut off immediately.[8D]

yeah^^^? i ran my car untuned with only a missing link and fmu for damn near 9 months...

I highly recommend getting a tune

Please CLICK HERE and do some searching about turbos, how they work, and what you need to run them. There is a LOT to learn about turbo's before you should even consider doing a boost project.

I didn't have a missing link, I was waiting on a conversion harness but still needed to drive the car. When the stock ECU sees boost, it goes into this horrible limp mode and shuts the car down because it's not mapped for it.
