Default D16Y8 Supercharger

I am not looking to buy one anytime soon, but I was wondering if they still make D16Y8 Superchargers. I am having a hard time finding one. Jackson Racing doesn't make them anymore. I was just looking for some info (install time, difficulty, added HP, other equipment needed, etc, etc) because I was curious. I like the superchargers because I like the instant power they provide, but (as you probably already know,) superchargers take power to make power, power that the civic doesn't have. Would a supercharger be right for a 127 HP Civic? That's probably why people turbo 'em, but I hate turbo lag.

Thanks,
Stig

I have one on my y8 right now. Very happy with it. The JRSC set-up I have is actually for a d16z6 (92-95-obd1). To be honest, I may know someone with one for sale if you are interested possibly. PM me for more info if you are interested.

Install time = it took my buddy and I about 12 hours, only because we couldnt figure out how to mount the idler pulley etc. Recently I needed to take it off, we had it off and re-installed it within 2 hours.

Difficulty = 9/10 IMO, especially if you are tuning it as well. If you do not know what you are doing tuning-wise, then I would highly recommend a professional to tune it.

added HP = I have a 7 psi set-up, but never have been on the dyno. Though, reading on some forums, I was informed that the kit provides about 60% over stock. (100whp y8 would then get to about 160whp).

Other equipment = Necessities would be tuning equipment, supercharger pulley (would probably come with it though).

Things you would probably want would be injectors (I have RC 440's), hondata IM (basically, it's a plastic IM gasket), header, exhaust (no bigger than 2.5" IMO), wideband o2 sensor & A/F gauge (especially if you are tuning yourself), CAI (or something like 2.5" or bigger intake piping), and possibly a bigger TB (60mm should be fine).

If you get something like a T25 turbo at 6 psi, you would experience almost zero turbo lag to be honest, and you would be making more power than a S/C y8 at 7 psi.

damn this is some good info.! I was always curious about the superchargers too.

like cvcrcr99 said, I have a t25 turbo on my car, and there is little to no lag at all.

Thumbs up for good information cvcrcr99 =)

Stop posting this junk in tech threads. It is bad enough you already created another thread asking for one, too.
