well for throttle response, how easy it is to install, the quality of the parts, that is in noway a bad deal for the edelbrock setup.

Plus you will not be getting full spool until around 1200 to 2000rpm after the edelbrock setup.

he was saying i would be reaching full spool 2k rpms AFTER the edelbrock kit

i like it that way though, would prefer a top end car anyway, but marty's right, it isnt a bad deal at all, but he still needs.

obd1 conversion $70
p28 $100-150
fuel injectors $220 (p & p precisions)
gauges $150
i didnt see anything about a wastegate $200
(im sure i missed a few things)

so i dk, its a good kit i wont deny it but i still think you can build a kit just as good for cheaper on your own.

gotcha... 2kRPM full spool may be nice but at the same time it would almost cause you to be in boost allllll tthheee tiimmeee on every acceleration.... that would not be fun. i drove a friend's srt-4 pushin about 280-290whp at the time w/ an AGP wastegate and that thing was sooooo sensative, you CAN'T accelerate that car w/o boosting... it got on my nerves in about, ohhh the first 2 minutes.

the reason i am looking at kits, is that I can't do an OBD1 conversion because of emissions. my only option is to get a kit that uses a piggy back, or however companies like greddy and jackson handle fuel management. if i pieced my own kit, i wouldn't be emissions legal anymore, as far as i have been able to figure out anyway. that's just my $.02

yea, if you were to buy this kit you would still have to get your own engine/fuel management. (i.e. greddy emanage, greddy emanage untimate, aem ems, apexi safcII, apexi neo etc etc etc) so you don't have to buy this kit just for emissions... also i'm confused as to why you think this kit will make you pass emissions as to where piecing together your own kit would make you fail? a turbo is a turbo they all do the same thing.

edelbrock is the only kit for our civics that is fully emission legal. It's CARB aproved(if it's legal in CA, its pretty much legal anywhere in the U.S[&:]) and it will also pass smog check since it's turbo link (piggy back ) already comes tuned to pass emissions. I'm not sure for the b16 kit, but the turbo kit for the d series already come tunes to 10-11psi which puts around 200-210 hp.

Overall, the edelbrock kit is one of the best kits on the market and a reason it cost a lot compared to the others is that itcomes with a pretty reliable tune straight out of the box unlike the greddy emanage.

RCjr9186... you canmake your own turbo kit pass the smog test with a good tune but it will fail the visual test. For example, in CA all performance products have to be tested (cost lots of money)to proved that they areCARBlegal and if they are they get a serial code indicating that the product has been tested.

well i guess i am just confused about what you get with a kit vs what you can get on your own. Greddy and Edelbrock both say they are CARB EO approved, but that's not my biggest concern. the visual inspection is very lax here, so i'm not worried about that, but i can't convert to OBD1 and i can't figure out what my options are. I read in another thread that i couldn't hope to stay emissions legal while building my own kit, the main question i have is how to manage the whole thing, get a good tune, and stay OBD2b for emissions?
