well i guess i am just confused about what you get with a kit vs what you can get on your own. Greddy and Edelbrock both say they are CARB EO approved, but that's not my biggest concern. the visual inspection is very lax here, so i'm not worried about that, but i can't convert to OBD1 and i can't figure out what my options are. I read in another thread that i couldn't hope to stay emissions legal while building my own kit, the main question i have is how to manage the whole thing, get a good tune, and stay OBD2b for emissions?
the greddy is CARB approved but as soon as you add a bov and intercooler technically is no longer CARB approved[&:](the greddy kit doesn't come with a bov and intercooler, you have to buy them separately).

The only ways to stay OBD2 is to run the afc-hack or run an ecu piggyback like the emanage. Or run a standalone ecu like the aem's one but does are expensive. If your state is not a picky as CA, I would just convert to OBD1 and run a chip ecu.

afc hacks suck I have actually seen boosted cars run worse with them vs being n/a.
