engine cel codes lights up on boost
hi, i have turboed my civic and finally got it running after having problems with the wastegate. now it is boosting correctly but when i drive it hard the engine check light turns on. the car then contiues toloose power until i switch it off and turn it back on. is this because i have nomap bypass on my setup. i believed i wouldnt need one of these becauseim running a maximum of 8 psi. whats you views?? thanks!
i had it tuned but the wastegate had a to high psi rated spring in it. so what they did was tuned it on the basis of 12:1 fuel ratio to cope with the extra air i think. i thought at the time it was kinda guesstimating the tune. im running a vaf2 and a uprated fuel pump. the tuner said that my vaf2 is pretty much maxed out. i was thinking of getting a hold of some larger injectors and get it retuned but the tuners is like a three hour drive each way from me i may have to take this route though. but would this engine light have something to do with the map sensor?? i read that you can run up to 11 psi on the standard map sensor with no bypass is this true?? thanks
So wait, you're using stock injectors?!
VAFC2 is not a good way to tune, you really need to get yourself a chipped ECU with an obd2b to obd1 conversion harness and get it tuned correctly with DSM 450s. Sell the VAFC and get your money back for it, then use that money to get the right stuff and get it tuned correctly.

11psi.
The problem with the VAFC is that it doesn't control timing correctly, infact, it does the exact opposite of what you want. It advances timing! That's why most engines running the VAFC often don't last very long.
For the price of a chipped ECU and conversion harness there is absolutely no reason to do it correctly. They are cheaper than VAFCs and they work 100x better. You can tune both timing and fuel, partial throttle, WOT, datalog, rev limits, launch control, anti-lag, everything and anything.

i live in england i will have to do some research and find out which tuners use these systems. whats wrong with the vaf2, wont this do the job? im only looking at running 8 psi tops!

you need to have have your car tuned ASAP. do not continue to drive it or you will destroy your motor.

Mate cant you read it says VTec on the engine.
the CEL light comes on all the time in my motor, and i just ignore it, it boosts fine all the way to 14psi/1bar, and its a 160,000 motor. no problems so far. so all this "you need to get your mtor tuned" is a pile of trash. END OF.
i Bought my SS Autochrome turbo kit over a year ago, and has been fine ever since, admittadly now and then it makes a strange pinging noise, any ideas what, it only happens at high boost, so no ideas, can anyone help?
im using stock injectors, stock management, however ive modded the ecu by putting a boost gauge near it so i can fully see what is going on.
tombakers do not worry, they dont know their stuff.
all the best
1BAR!
