Yea I understand. What i meant was that some "Turbo manifolds" flow better than others, creating more power.

dont get me wrong, you can take the SOHC D16Z6 over 250whp, but its expensive. Were talking like 1500 for pistons and rods, then forged camshaft, expensive *** injectors, upgraded clutch, sleeved block, arp headstuds, metal headgasket, and a grand or so in tuning. Its very possible to do this, but everything has its price. I really really really wanna bulletproof the bottom end, but the parts are so damn expensive. I am willing to learn how to work on my engine, but fn around with internals is risky in my view. I would have to get that done by a shop, and from what i kno, labor aint so cheap nowadays.

On a positive note, a stock D16Z6 can handle 200 WHP. You just need ARP headstuds because the D series head lifts under boost over 9psi or so. Some D series setups take 10PSI to make 200whp, where others may only need 8. Its all in the tune. In this case, you can get your car tuned for 200whp, lbs of boost do not apply. Get some ARP headstuds, good engine management and a 200whp dyno tune. Youll be happy with the result. Then start saving for some internals and youll be able to turn up the boost, Best of luck with everything. ~Pete

I wouldn't say sleeving is necessary to reach 230 HP, but everything else for sure. I have my motor down at a NAPA engine shop and they quoted me at around 450.00 to redo the crank, install pistons, rods, blockguard, and arp's and then match it with my fully built head ($1100) It's coming out wednesday (crosses fingers) so I can tell you exactly how much next week. The internals cost about $1100 total, forged everything. Then you'll need fuel pump, rail, regulator, injectors- roughly $450. Clutch $400 for a good one. Turbo kit $1000 minimum. Then you need some fuel management. I chose the greddy emanage, with a nice wideband a/f to help with tuning. About $800 for those. So what is that already................$5250.00 Then tuning probably another 500-1000 later on. Decide how much you really want to put into this project, price it all out, and make a realistic plan and stick with it. Either way you go, you'll be happy with a turbo. Remember there are always little things that will add up to alot more money, but this will get you a basic idea as to what it will cost you, unless you can do all the work yourself, and want to mess with uberdata. There's always ways to shave dollars if you have the time and skill.

You me too, but what I meant by messing is........I don't know how solder, so for me personally to use uber I'd have to get someone who knew about it to help me with it. I don't know anyone local that does, so I just sprung the 450 bucks for the emanage. If he's a newbie he won't be using uber unless someone sets it up for him, IMO.
