Default external wategate not opening

hi, i have had my civic turboed for a while now and originaly it had the wrong wastegatespring and was overbooostingso i got hold of a 5.86 psi spring and it is still overboosting(15plus psi). i have taken the wastegate apart to check if it was jammed in anyway but it looks fine. i have noticed that one of the turbo flange bolts is loose and is very diffucult to get to i will have a go at it tommorow, but the flange does not appear to be leaking. surely if the flange was leaking it wouldnt overboost due to the leak?

Sounds to me, judging by what you said in the other thread that your wastegate is not hooked up properly. If it has two nipples, it should be hooked up as follows

- one nipple to a reliable vacuum source (a lot of people run a T fitting either out of thir brake booster line, or one of the other vac lines connecting to the intake manifold. Or, you can do what I did, and get yourself a golden eagle vacuum manifold, probably the best $70 a boosted man can spend). The other nipple should either be capped off, or routed to a boost controller of some sort.

what type of gauge do you have, cause i know if you get an obx gauge the reading is gonna be off a little. you should not be boosting more than what the spring is rated at.

Thanks for the help guys. Is the hose on the bottom vacuumimportant to assist lifting the spring?? this is the only other thing i can think of doing.

usualy the fitting on the top of the wastegate is what you hook your boost controller up to. the fitting on the side is what you hook your vacuum source up to
