Default Greddy Turbo Kit

A friend of mine recently offered to sell me the full Greddy turbo kit out of his CRX for $600. It's only been used for a month, but he just swapped out the engine, so he can't use it. It's got all the parts, intercooler, wastegate, piping, BOV etc. So anyway, what do you guys think? Should I buy it?

if the turbo does not have any shaft play in it, oil leaks, etc then id go ahead and snag that up from him.

Additionally, I'm looking for a turbo controller. A friend of mine says he's seen ones that can turn the turbo on and off with a switch. Has anyone seen anything like that? And if so, do you know of a good site to purchase one from? Sorry if this is a ridiculous question, this is new territory for me.

negative, not possible to do. your tubo is always going to be running no matter if your in boost or not. please read up on turbos before you buy and install one.

Your friend is talking about an electric "turbocharger" in reality it is basically just a fan you put at the end of your intake. They don't work.

Yeah, i've been doing research on them the past couple days, didn't find anything like that. There are alot of really informative threads on here, so my thanks and props go out to all that wrote them. I definately want to turbo my car eventually. I've been reading the faqs, and I have most of the parts needed to reinforce the engine sitting in my garage waiting to be installed, and the other parts I would get with the turbo kit.
