hey all noob question about turbo
hello guys,
I have a question: what system would be the best for me?
I'll have a bone stock 1993-1995/6 Civic Hatchback and I'd like a turbo kit w/ intercooler and BOV
what system and how much boost won't hurt the engine? oh, BTW what's the best bang for the buck?
thanks in advance

thanks for the replies guys now could you tell me the best bang for the buck as far as turbos are concerned?
what's the "budget" system that I could use without worry of fokin' up the engine??

RE: hey all noob question about turbo
"Budget" usually means custom, which means you build it yourself by piecing it together. Most people will go to a junkyard and pull a DSM turbo and try to find an intercooler. You'll have to fab up (or have fabbed) a custom manifold and downpipe and then find all of your charge and intercooler piping. It's a scavenger hunt but you could save thousands if you are handy. They are building kits over at Home Made Turbo all the time for less than a grand.
The thing is though, there is a learning curve and if you don't know about turbos, that curve can be really expensive in terms of blown motors. So...
Home Made or "custom"
Greedy or Edlebrock kit.
Your choice. Someone once said- "Fast, cheap, reliable- pick two."

RE: hey all noob question about turbo
if you want boost cheap then get a decent setup non-ballbearing without an intercooler. It will be fine for low boost setups... but you will have to run premium gas (atleast 91 octane, 93 would be best).
