Yes, I definitely agree with that. Maybe I could have worded my post differently, but I am responding to the prices of what he is looking at. A garrett turbo, multiple gauges, boost controller, clutch kit, reliable engine management, compression/leakdown tests. Also his car is pretty old. I would suggest arp headstuds, an oem gasket, and new gaskets for his manifolds. I suggest buying a pieced together kit for your first time. I've found them from 1100-1300 for a fairly complete kit using chinese turbos (which suprisingly can be very reliable). Kits for that price usually include an afc hack. You'd probably want to chip your ecu and get a good street tune. Google "g2ic turbo". It pertains to integras around the year of your car but includes lots of awesome information for the individual parts of a turbo kit. Keep researching and good luck.

it depends what you are looking for, id reccomend piecing yourself a kit if you are tight on money, a used turbo is fine jus get a turbo rebuild kit while your at it, the fuel management all depends on what you are looking for, aem standalone is a badass system but it isnt cheap, my bet would be crome or neptune.... its all up 2 u just do your research boosting is a lot of money and potential headaches and you want to be prepared for it, nothing sucks more than having your car sit in the same parking spot waiting to repair it . a lot of stuff off ebay is fine like the oil and vacuum lines, cause there only lines lol, but theirs a diy pieceing a turbo kit on this forum somewhere find it and itll help you out

 

well, im torn between building one or just doing some moderate mods. Decided to go research a little bit on just getting the parts. Already have a head ache. So much stuff you have to do and get. I'm trying to make the decision to start getting some of the parts like ignition components that will support my turbo build or just go ahead and forget about the turbo. I'm also taking into consideration that im 17 and can only work in the summer because of sports. I hope to make 2,000 this summer, but that just wont cut it for the cost of a turbo because I want to my civic to look nice with rims, coilovers....Sorry for the thread jack but was/are there any people that have/had this dillema? If so any input would be I think a good help to me and the guy who started this thread.

 

trust me it is a headache and will always be one. But Im pretty much over that part for now until i decide to go bigger on the turbo then i have to worry about different type manifolds and connecting it to my exhaust. But that will be way down the road from now im just doing a lot more research between the setup i have now and what i really want with the motor i want to put it on.
